LADY On February 12 1972, our Lady , an adorable highly charged puppy, came into this world. She reported aboard weighing less than a good marlin spike and too short to make it over the combing of a watertight ship's door. She has since grown 2 to 3 times in size. It seems that she has only one speed - All Ahead Flank. She is a girl who has over 250 men around her and loves every minute of it. At first, many of us wondered if having such a small puppy was such a good idea. She required constant attention and had a somewhat difficult time adjusting to steel decks, steel bulkheads, salt spray, and the 'almost constant rolling and pitching motions of her home. She braved all types of weather without suffering the ill effects many of us en- countered and managed to prove herself capable of living as one of the sailors of today's Navy. She participates in well deck operations, swim call, quarters and many other events. She even makes it up for the mid watch. She is friendly to all and constantly looking for some one to play with and is a constant source of entertainment and affection. Our Lady has travelled many thousands of miles with us and gone on liberty in Guam, Okinawa, and Subic Bay. Through her travels she has been honorarily awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one campaign star, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
