October was a month of both relief and shock. Relief finally came in the form of much needed R a i n and cooler temperatures, which helped to lessen the severity of the long drought. In the early part of the month, students from all over the city attended the College Fair at Alamo Heights, where more than 50 colleges from around the country sent representatives to answer questions from curious students. All during October the Presidential race was in full swing, as the debates between Democratic nominee Walter Mondale and Republican nominee Ronald Reagan as well as those of vice president nominees Geraldine Ferraro and George Bush were aired on television.
