NOTRE DAME BASKETBALL HEAD COACH DIGGER PHELPS Kbottom right! goes over the fine points of basketball at the basket- ball seminar. When students came back from vacation, they were concerned about their grades, the new 70 passing grade, limitations on absences and ABX's, and more stringent requirements for extra- curricular activities. While San Antonio remained fairly dry, up to 20 inches of rain fell in Brownsville, causing extensive flood- ing. Meanwhile, the atmosphere in Lebanon was still unsettled, as another terrorist attack on the U.S. embassy occured in Bei- rut. The tradition of Howdy Week took over September, leading Howdy Night where food, ranging from punch to frankfurters, and games were available to the overflow crowd, and as September turned the corner, more than 300 basketball coaches attended the Champi- on Basketball Seminar in the big gym with Digger Phelps, head basketball coach at Notre Dame. up to 16 Calendar -ir K n, S Ai' . x, - IWW? fyv i 'E - ,fi K -,, ga -117459 P 'lv-1 'sl' .,,, ff 'S A L45 'fly-f-f Dyk' 6 ew -Q A A. b ,V .A f v J . .Q
