Latln, French and German A study of common roots, prefixes and suffixes is stressed in Latin. Pronunciation and readi.ng skills are de- veloped through the use of records and films. Translation from Latin to English and from English to Latin is prac- ticed both orally and in writing. Common English deriva- tives and loan words from Latin are stressed. An increased knowledge of grammar and an enlarged vocabulary are de- veloped. French includes extensive drills in pronunciation, sim- ple French sentence structure, a basic vocabulary, and a simple conversation. Oral work is intensified by the use of tapes, records, and the foreign language laboratory. There is a great stress placed on French achievements in all fields in order to encourage student appreciation of France. , Mrs. Pierson shows her approval of a student's response.
