ln the fall of 1966, Alameda fans were greeted at the football games and handed a mimeographed sheet of pa per announcing a Booster Club for Alameda High School was being organized. By basketball season of 1966 the AHS Booster Club was in full swing, thanks to contributions from area businessmen and membership fees. Dean Joseph, Frank Mazzucca, Doc Snee, and Jim Williams were the instigators of the AHS Booster Club. The first president of the Alameda Booster Club was Dean Joseph, he held the office from the fall of 1966 to the spring of 1969. Among their many projects, perhaps their biggest undertaking was to raise approximately 56,000.00 to help pay for new band uniforms. Dean Joseph resigned and Harold Sheer became president for the school year of 1970. ln the fall of 1970, Ed Winters became president. From 1971 until the spring of 1972, the Booster Club came to a stand still. ln the spring of '72, an interested group of pa rents headed by Ginger Spry decided to re-activate the groupg Bob Hall was elected president. The name Alameda Pirate Club was chosen as the new name for the group, with their goal to be to help all groups and organizations in the school. Many projects to raise money were conducted throughout the year, a part of the money raised went to buy football team new jackets. Sam F erraro was elected president in the spring of 1973. The group had a very successful year, had many money making projects, and approved a budget of approximately S3,000.00. Bud Hurd was elected president in the spring of 1974. So far there have bee several money raising projects, and a budget of approximately 56,000.00 was approved. The 1974-1975 yearbook is proudly dedicated to the Booster Club of Alameda High.
