MR BRYANS Message ALAMEDA HIGH SCHOOL SINCR PEARL HARBOR The faculty and students of Alameda High School met in the auditorium of the school on Monday morning December 8 1941 md listened to the address delix ered by President Franklin D Roosevelt before the Congress of the United States He was asking for a declaration of war lgamst Iapan for the cowardly attack on Pearl Harbor the preceding d ly The Sen ite and the House of Repre We had accepted the challenge of the war lords of Iapan It was a challenge as to whether we should live in a free world or 1 world of bondage cruelty and savagerw Since that day Alameda Hlgh School has wholeheartedly given of her most precious possession her man power to support the war eflort Hundreds of the boys who attended the meeting on December 8 1941 as students are now serving in every branch of the service Our former graduates both men and women are serving with distinction in everv theatre of the War Our girls are serving as nurses as Waves as Wacs as Spars and as Marines One of our former graduates is serving as commander in the Waves the second highest oflice in that branch of the service and the only woman ever to have held that high position Nine 161 -3 7 . 3 ' ' , ' , , 1 ' . . - ' I 1 '.
