COMMUNITY VISITATION DAY - OPEN HOUSE... Many visitors toured the new plant additions at the college, at an Open House on Community Visita- tion Day, May 14. The tour divided into two section, began at 3 p. m. for State officials, including Representative Harold Harris; educational and community leaders, and at 4:30 p.m. for the general public. Both tour groups were escorted over the same routes, departing the College Union Building via motorcade, circling the campus, viewing the many additions and improve- ments, cluminating the tour back at the Union huilding, where refreshments Were served. President Levi Watkins, assisted by faculty mem- bers and students, led the tourists thl'Ough the Facul- ty dining area, Health Center? the new Simpson Hall, Abercrombie Hall, new faculty aparlments, Kilby Hall1 now being used as an art center; and the College Union which houses the college book store, post oche, conference room, offices, snack bar, lounges, fountain area, guest quarters, game room and main dining room. Seatedet-nneth McPhe-arson. CHOIR CONCERT CLOSES WEEK The. final event in the ARTS FESTIVAL-WOBKSHOP-B? was a concert by the College Choir under the direction of Dr. Ralph E. Simpson, with Mrs. Gren neta Simpson serving as piano accompanist. The conductorts format for the program was set in three parts. Part I consist- ed of some of the most difficult short pieces in choral literature. Included Were: hDomine Fili Unigeniteh t0nly Begotten Son of Cody which is the sev- enth section from the ttGloria Mass', by the great Baroque master Antonio Vivaldi. Jesus, joy of Malfs Desiringy by the culminatm 0f the Baroqer Era -J. S. Bach. And three works by the contemporary American composer Rant dall T humpsun. Part II was plainly entertainment music. The closing set consisted of spirituals, and an arrangement of ttWere You There by Dr. Simpson. The soloist was Miss Beverly Bradford, a junior music major. 151
