OUR FIRST FAMILY JAMES ALLISON, THE PRESIDENT, MRS. WATKINS AND DON- ALD VARNADO. NOT SHOWN: ANNIE MARIE, UCO, BERKEL- EY, CAL, LEVI JR. PRES. OF THE STUDENT BODY, TEN- NESSEE AGKI UNIVERSITY, NASHVILLE, TENN, EMMA PEARL, PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER-CAMDEN ACADEMY, CAMDEN, ALA. AND DORISTINE LOUISE, A JUNIOR KNOXVILLE COL- LEGE, KNOXVILLE, TENN. TH E PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE On the pages of this 1966 edition of THE HOBNET is recorded something of the pictorial story of the 1965-1966 school term. The whole story lives in the minds and hearts of those. who are privileged to be players in the drama of life at Alabama State. A college is great insofar as her students, faculty, alumni, and administration are great. In that sense, these pages present a preview of those whose greatness will stand out in tomor- row's new world of freedom and human dignity. Here are found the teachers whose inspira- tion motivates and prepares for a participating citizenship. Here are the dynamic few who will be leaders for tomorrow's new democracy and the many others who will be the better part of an enlightened citizenery. Here, also, are the architects and builders of a better Ala- bama State College worthy of a place among great institutions of learning. I consider it a privilege and a blessing to be associated with the fine personalities of the stuv dent body and faculty. Your achievements have been most rewarding and encouraging for all of us. Indeed, you have helped move our College and yourselves many paces forward in the onward and upward march toward greatness. It is my Fervent hope that you who graduate will remember your Alma Mater always and grow in greatness. To that end, our prayers will be with you wherever you are; whatever vou do. Cordially, ; M Levi 1Vatkins President
