m0W !- - I TORPEDU ,?fTi'wA Y -N. 'T 's W- -X i K N ' I .J 5. 1 , up J THE THANKSGIVING GAME Thanksgiving day dawned bright and clear, We thought our second victory was near. XYe went to Iilk Point gay as larks, Thinking we'd eat them up like sharks. We went to the field, lined up like we always do, But they took the ball and pierced our line thru. XVe stood in our tracks and watched them go by, Then we raised an awful cry. The referee had good stuff under his belt, But the result of 'his stuff was keenly felt. He had a bad habit, he'd open his mouth wide Fifteen yards, Akron off-side. They finally got lucky and took it across, But we didn't feel yet that the game was lost. This game was no joke, as we thought before, So we resolved that they would do it no more. It began to look hopeless sure as could be, For they made two touchdowns and then got three. At last we seemed not to be playing at all, XYe just let them run around with the ball. The game ended at last, we went to the showers, And believe me our friends didn't say it with flowers. But next year give another chance, And we'll die in the attempt or make those birds dance. BUT That game was entirely lost. The lesson we learned was dear. Other teams have learned the same, So let me jot it down here, Don't be over-confident. THAT lesson will never be forgotten, NVe'll remember it till we're dead, It proves just how perfectly rotten, A man plays when he's got the big-head. --Clarence Baldwin.
