XYe vvere nut very active during our S11pl1mnore year, due nmstly to faculty regulation. VVe have advanced again and are nmv juniors. This year vve elected Uma Ogden as president. Carrie .Xkers as vice president and Clifford Johnson as treausrer. VVe have alvvays taken part in all school activities, and have alvvays heen strongly represented in must of them. Ilis pursuers closed in upon him. XYould he ever make that haven of safety that lay hefore him? The lifeless hurden in his arms heeame the sole ohjeet of his endeavors. hut of what use was she to him, panting and gasping for hreath himself? lle wondered why the air he knew to he imprisoned in her hosom did not force its way out in that moment of strain and excitement. lle ruhhed his hand across the skin he loved to touch. ll was cold and elammy now. Perhaps he should open the tight laeings ahout her lmody. lXlayhe she would hegin to hreath again. Une gasp and a shudder and she closed liniply to his emhraee. Should he drop her and flee from that mad moh hehind him, leaving' her to her fate? No. he would never do that. Sooner would he fall into the hands of his foe. for he loved the limp form that rested in his arms. They would fall togetherf he decided. Now they were almost there. XVith one final plunge he had gained safety, hut one of his pursuers got him and they fell together.
