.,'Eegend of 'Ghe Cahzefs The hour was late as 1 rolled up 1nto my buffalo robe Ny head was heavy W1 h the though'S O' Yea 5 GONE 'JY I remembered the years 1 had gone to s hool in the little b 1ck m ssion of A G S ln my lst class there were 52 little braves and squaws who had Just ba ely climbed out of 'he1r cradleboards' Our guides for thus adven ur were Mrs Barnsey a a N155 Heltzel ln the and grade we gaired Kaye landis Glorra Creves ton leanette Chapman and Sharor' 1-1111 We were u de the supc-rvis on of Mrs Bevmgton With our Indian pigtaiils we marched bravely 1nto M1s Showalters 3rd grade to find Larry Hoffman and Stanley Helvey still in short pants They were cute though' Our group rncreased w1fh Beverly Harris Verla lean Bager Stephen Buda and Coleen Ame1gh We went our separate ways into Miss Swick and Miss Roses classes ga1n ng Bob Floor Eilee Beatty a d Ba bara Arnold The year was spi ed with being allowed to ring the hand school bell and our Kng of the Mount games on the old ashpile ' Miss Rose was with us again 1n he Sth grade along W1 h Mr Brewer Among those who loined us this year were Ruth Shoemake Mable Bice lmmy T kle ana u s Lcr raine and Dwayne HOpk1US Our kindly old lanitor Dave Williams helped sw1ng us along into our Sth grade We ended our grade school days with Mrs .Merley and Mrs Brewer Mary Frances Arthu came to help us end it Do you remember he day we walked to the new grade bu1ld1ng for a grand tour? During the lst part of 1950 we moved into the rew grade building Then realizing that our operetta days were over we looked forward to moving into the very mysterious High School Building During our 6 years in AGS we lost Ernie Smoker Charles Saner Leroy Kirk Paul Murphy lohn Overdorff lay Walter Masteller David Gagnon Sarah Leininjer Sonla Gertg Karen Denry Ver11ndaClevenger ludylnleete Glo ia Creveston Donnie D1 kerhoff Larry Grubbs loyce Cl1nger man Michael Bahney Wilma Spen er Mable Rce Rose Flor Billy Miller Coleen Ame1gh B111 Sayge s Bob Floor Barbara Arnold lack Myers and loanne Siegfo d Bag and baggage 51 of us 7th graders moved into AHS to terrorize the students and teachers' Those who yoined us for this expedition were Wanda Brane Tumor Sal yers Deloris and Larry Floor and Carol Teel Our first taste of high school life was delicious Mr Hockstedler who lm sure well never forget helped us w1th our first class powwow Remember the hotdogs and Kool Ade we ate near lst base on the ball diamond CGrade school play yardl Mrs Dyer and Mr Densor watched us grow up rrnto the eighth as some of us had our first dates on k1dd1e after noon at the fair' Remember lmdsf?
