On a cold, rainy Saturday evening two days after the Homecoming football game many students were seen dashing from cars to the gym in order to attend the first HORNET Homecoming Dance ever held at Aiken High School. To carry out the theme, the decorat- ing committee used green and white stream- ers with a huge paper football, which was placed on the portable stage. Later the Home- coming Queen and her court were introduced -Q it' ' x jo 4 7,,,,.,-c uf x X as they burst through the football and were led in the grand march by the senior football players. The rest of the students joined in this grand march, and then they all enjoyed more dancing and refreshments. This left more time for soliciting ads as the days grew crowded with home work and other school activities. NYithin the next few months pictures were taken. copy was written and proof read, the suhscription drive was ended. and the old year progressed rapidly to a close. Miss Hor- net contestants were chosen along with Slay Emily Parker, CIa.s:s- Editorg Faye Thornton, Junior Class Eclitorg jack Urhan, Freshman Class Ellifllfg md Nlary Virginia YVahl, Sophomore Class Editor, search for new ideas. x Queen and Class Sponsors. who are presented in the feature section. .Ns the hook was nearing completion. many meetings were held in order to arrange the pictures with the correct copy. XVith pride the staff sent the finished dummy to the print- ers. and when the 1956 HOBNET returned. the staffs adviser. Nliss Nlary Lou Barlow, and every staff memher had the satisfaction of knowing that each page had been com- pleted with Ckll'C.
