With this revised curric- ulum, students improved their daily work as Well as their examinations. Crumpled paper and used erasers represented many hours of hard and strenuous work. Stu- dents of Aiea High School competed with students from other schools in the Oahu Math League. Interested students also participated in the Annual High School Mathematical Examination for Secondary Schools of the United States and Canada. Artistic Ability Displayed b Students in Variety of Art Classes Pall Ledesma plays the part ofa sheriff during the presentation 'Doing Our Thing. Art students expressed their deep inner feelings using the various art forms includ- ing clay and plaster of paris. The advanced students experimented with tie dying and outdoor sculptures. By performing at festivals and assem- blies, music students developed a musical understanding and appreciation. The year was highlighted by the State Music Festi- val and an inter-island trip. Speech students learned to communi- cate effectively through participations in State, District, and Regional Festivals. All students were also encouraged to partake in the various intramural speech competi- tions held in school. By actively taking part in the various contests, students were able to establish a reasonable amount of poise and confidence, to develop an ade- quate and colorful vocabulary, and to direct their skills in voice and body control.
