Meritorious Efort Deserves Recognition '35 W MMM 1' fi National Honor Society Under the advisorship of Miss Mae Yamasaki, the Aiea Chapter of the National Honor Society encouraged its members to take an active role in the academics as well as the extracurricular activities. As a result, the NHS under- took the responsibility of running the bookstoreg they ushered at University of Hawaii drama productionsg they carried out service projects and also participated in several social functions. As a service to AHS, the club undertook the chairing of the Honors and Awards Committee at the request of the Student Government. Pacific Asian Affair Council With the rising concern over the world's future 'xx My E problems, this year's Pacific and Asian Affairs Coun- cil theme was The Year 2000: Make It Your World. In attempting to get a deeper understanding ofthe growing world, the members of the AHS Pacific and Asian Affairs Council chapter attended various con- ferences on Oahu and on the island of Hawaii. Pep Club, Band Enliven Merriment Around Campus Pep Club Primarily interested. in boosting team spirit during the football and basketball 'season was the main objec- tive of the active students in the AHS Pep Club. They succeeded in promoting the spirit of the Student Body to support the athletic teams to victory. Band Under the able directorship of Mr. Leslie Iwatani, the AHS Band played superbly at the football games and pep rallies. They also performed at commu- nity functions, and other school func- tions. The band gave tremendous support to the Select Choir at the Christmas Con- cert as well as the Annual Spring-Concert which concluded the musical year for the Aiea High School Band!
