FH Throughout the year the Future Homemakers of America participated in many of the activities sponsored by the American Cancer Society. They also had fun participating in the Campus Cleanup, going on picnics, overnights, socials, and a few money making projects. In April two delegates were sent to Kauai to represent the Aiea High School Chapter at the State Confer- ence. ln February they had fun get- ting aquainted with the other chapter members at the Island Conference which was held at the Queen Kapio- lani Hotel. A banquet held at the end of the year highlighted a most joyful and exciting year for the FHA. Future Homemakers Future Teachers of America Exploring and learning more about future careers in the teaching profession was the ideal purpose of the organization called Future Teachers of America. Some of the many activities were the annual state-wide convention on the island of Hawaii, the Oahu Convention at Kamehameha High School, and visita- tion to the University of Hawaii and Leeward Community College. Various workshops on teaching with guest speak- ers, actual classroom experiences as teachers' aides, and serving as tutors at Alvah A. Scott Elementary School were other activities which involved the FTA. Japanese Club All of the club activities were planned with an emphasis upon some phase of the Japanese culture. Picnics with students from other schools, dances, visitations to the various Japanese temples, attendance at Japanese movies were some of the many activities planned by the club. ln addition, the club sponsored several lecture sessions and demonstrations of Japanese martial arts. Service projects such as the Campus Clean Up and assistance at the Cherry Blossom Festival were also included on the busy agenda ot the AHS Japanese Club. The climaxing event of the year was a tea house banquet held at the end ofthe school year. l ii

Its purpose is to encourage fellowship and competitive spirit among math students. Each month throughout the school year, ten students engage in interschool competition. Subjects range from Basic Math through Calculus. The Math League is under the joint advisorship of Mr. George Watanabe, Mr. Carl Juan, and Mr. Raymond Nelson. The Aiea Math League is a part of the Oahu Math League, which includes 14 public and private schools.
