Japanese Club All of the club activities were planned with an emphasis upon some phase of the Japanese culture. Picnics with students from other schools, dances, visitations to the various Japanese temples, attendance at Japanese movies were some of the many activities planned by the club. ln addition, the club sponsored several lecture sessions and demonstrations of Japanese martial arts. Service projects such as the Campus Clean Up and assistance at the Cherry Blossom Festival were also included on the busy agenda ot the AHS Japanese Club. The climaxing event of the year was a tea house banquet held at the end ofthe school year. l ii

International Clubs Probe into Culture 4 French Club i As with many foreign language clul the La Coterie, the French Club, er couraged its members to develop better understanding of the cultu language, and people of France. accomplish this, they planned and ganized all of their activities with the advisor, Mrs. Marjorie Woodrum. Highlight of the year was a gue speaker session with Miss Karen Na sone who studied in France last ye The club also participated in the Ca pus Clean Up Projects, and the Thank giving Canned Goods Drive. Third row: Arthur Hodge, Robert Fransham. Spanish Club Under the advisorship of Mrs. Judy Franklin the Los Companeros was a service-social organization. The pur- pose of the Spanish Club was to promote a better understanding of the Spanish culture by supplementing classroom learning with outside activ- ities. During the Christmas season the club made and sold Christmas cards for their money-making project. FH Throughout the year the Future Homemakers of America participated in many of the activities sponsored by the American Cancer Society. They also had fun participating in the Campus Cleanup, going on picnics, overnights, socials, and a few money making projects. In April two delegates were sent to Kauai to represent the Aiea High School Chapter at the State Confer- ence. ln February they had fun get- ting aquainted with the other chapter members at the Island Conference which was held at the Queen Kapio- lani Hotel. A banquet held at the end of the year highlighted a most joyful and exciting year for the FHA. Future Homemakers Future Teachers of America Exploring and learning more about future careers in the teaching profession was the ideal purpose of the organization called Future Teachers of America. Some of the many activities were the annual state-wide convention on the island of Hawaii, the Oahu Convention at Kamehameha High School, and visita- tion to the University of Hawaii and Leeward Community College. Various workshops on teaching with guest speak- ers, actual classroom experiences as teachers' aides, and serving as tutors at Alvah A. Scott Elementary School were other activities which involved the FTA.
