DEDICATION For years Miss Deborah M, Brown, better known to her students as Miss Deborah,” has taught at Ahoskie High School. During these year, her ideals and her knowledge have in¬ fluenced the lives of an uncountable number of students. Miss Deborah is a person who takes an in¬ terest in every phase of life at Ahoskie High School; be it athletics, student government, or any of the other extracurricular activities or organizations. Every day Miss Brown is called upon by numerous students for advice and assistance, and she never fails to adhere to their requests. When student elections come around, to whom do candidates go for help with their speeches? - to Miss Deborah, of course. Her unlimited vocabulary and outstanding oratory attributes are both respected and admired by faculty and students alike. Miss Deborah casually lectures to a Senior English class. Serving as Senior sponsor, Miss Deborah is constantly assisting doubtful seniors in plotting their future. Her words of wisdom” very of¬ ten tend to alter the plans of some would-be dropouts. Aside from her daily tasks as a teacher, Miss Deborah always has a kind word and a warm smile for everyone. It is for these, and many other, wonderful contributions to Ahoskie High School, and with deepest love and utmost respect, that we ded¬ icate the 1964 volume of The Chief to Miss Deborah M. Brown. Whenever a poem or speech is needed. Miss Deborah is always willing to write it.

Among Miss Brown’s extra tasks at Ahoskie High is that of yearbook adviser. She is con¬ stantly putting aside her classwork to give any needed assistance on this publication. The staff of The Chief would be lost without the careful proofreading and copy alterations that Miss Deborah is responsible for. 6 Miss Brown labors over pages of copy for the annual. » ay f » p. n cmnrrr t
