I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa. Surprise! . ' fi . , may Christmas Formal By: Ruth Grunbling Trees trimmed with cranber- ries and popcorn, a wooden sleigh, and hot apple cider helped to transform the North Campus cafeteria on Sat. Dec. 20, into an Old Fashioned Christmas. I really enjoyed this year's formal, said Shannon Wilson, student body vice president. I think Wilson, student body vice president. l think the theme and decorations helped every- one get in the Christmas spirit. Decorations consisted of win- dows frosted with spray snow, lights covering the ceiling to re- present stars, and tables orna- mented with greenery. ln the past there had been two identi- cally decorated trees but this year the trees were decorated in two different color schemes. One was trimmed in red and the other was trimmed in gold, said senior Rhonda Wiley. We wanted to decorate them com- pletely different this year, she added. There were also 'old fa- shioned' toys, wrapped pack- ages, and a wooden sleigh sur- rounding the two trees. Wilson thought the decora- tions set a nice mood and pro- vided a warm, friendly atmo- sphere. The music was provided by Don Davis from the West Ari- zona Music Machine CWAMMJ. He provided fantastic lighting and a unique sound system, saidjunior Trang Nguyen, music committee chairperson. Top 40 hits consisting of mostly slow songs were played, according to Nguyen. Refreshments consisted of Christmas cookies, cakes, can- dies, hot apple cider, and fruit punch. Pictures were taken by Fran Smith Studios. Approximately 160 couples attended. Santa and Mrs. Claus were also there to greet all those who attended and listened to Christ- mas wishes. 'il think the most special thing about the formal was seeing ev- eryone dressed up and being with your friends, said senior Lisa Koppelman. Sweethearts enjoy themselves dancing at the Christmas Formal.
