History The history department believes that the solution of present- day problems may be found by a precise examination of recent facts coupled with a study of the record of past experiences. Its variety of courses ranges from a study of current problems as recorded in the New York Times to the history of the an- cient Greek and Roman civilizations. By work in this depart- ment, the Agnes Scott student is instilled with a special interest in today ' s world problems and is enabled to approach these difficulties and uncertainties with a thorough knowledge of past experiences.
