In July 1955 he reported to the Bureau of Ships, Washing- ton, D,C, and subsequently commanded USS ST, CLAIR COUNTY KLST-10961 in the Pa- Z 'it 54 Bimfmshinfy' M cific from 1957 to 1959. Following a tour aS the Amphibious Ship Placement Officer, Offi cer Distribution Division, Bureau of Naval Personnel, Washington, D,C,, he completed the Command and Staff course at the U.S. Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island in June 1962, In July 1962 he reported to the USS TAYLOR tDD-4685 in Pearl Harbor as Executive Officer and assumed command of FSH LANSING tDER-3889 in August 1963. Upon decommissioning of the LANSING in May 1965, Commander Shultz reported to the Strategie Plans Division, OpNav, Wash- ington, D,C, for a tour which ended in July l967. Prior to reporting for duty as Com- manding Offieer of AGERHOLAI in July 1969, Commander Shultz was a student at the Air War College in Montgomery. Alahama. Commander Shultz is married to the former Margaret I-ldmiston of Arlington, Virginia. They have four children, and eur- rentlv reside in Coronado. California.
