“This was the best season ever!” -Laura Bruso ’84 The gymnastic team, under the skillful direction of first year coach Miss Janet Hasbrouck, ended their season with a record of 4-7. Leading the squad with her experience and know how was senior captain Laura Bruso. An- other talented gymnast, who contributed to the team’s excellent effort, was junior Lori Jury. Coach Hasbrouck feels that next year’s team should be very promising since most of the mem- bers will be returning and will have a year’s exper- ience behind them. Kathy it ready to tumble! “Cross Country has many individuals, yet our individuals worked as a team to go undefeated.” Russel Vigue ’84 The successful Cross Country team, coached by Mr. Young, ran to a first place finish in the Valley Wheel. They ended with an outstanding 11-0 record in their division. The team not only defeated tough teams such as Longmea- dow, Palmer, South Hadley, and Southwick, but went on to compete in the Western Mass. Championship. The squad had the best overall finish, in Valley Wheel, finishing fifth place in Division 1. Seniors Guy Jediny and Jim Wright, and outstanding fresh- man. Coach Kowalski gives the team some helpful advice. Scott Cofer ’84 Agawam High School’s 1984 Boys’ Basketball team, under the direction of first year coach Peter Kowalski, opened the season with a slow start. The team was led by senior captains Dean Leclerc and Mike Shayda. Leading the team and showing strong perfor- mances throughout the season were senior hoopsters Rocky Bush, Scott Cofer, Kevin Connor, Dean Le- clerc, Mike Govoni, Mike Shayda. and Mike Sardclla. These seniors showed unceasing stamina and de- termination throughout the tough season, acting as role models for the juniors and sophomores. 116 Here come Sar with a Lancer hot on hi trail.
