GUIDE: Watch your step, please. (Several minutes later they arrive at the top.) MARLENE: Madeline, look who's here — Ann Barnes and Joyce Geoffrion. MADELINE: And there's Barb Cavicchi, Frances Ferioli and Diane Sloboda. ALL: ANN: Hi, everybody! Girls, look! Don't those four people remind you of our Freshman Class officers? JOYCE G.: Oh, you mean Tom Buoniconti, Elaine DcMont, Bobby Phillips, and Renee Benjamin. DIANE: I'll never forget that Freshman Year. We had Mrs. Sherman for our class advisor. GERT: Remember the Freshman Party? We had monkeys and palm trees for decorations. Everyone had a wonderful time. FRANNIE: Oh, yes, it was called “Club 59”. John Chagnon and Gladys Gabory were selected king and queen at the party. MADELINE: I remember it was our first big social dance at the new high school. I was on the committee, and we all worked hard to make the party a big success. JOYCE G.: J. v. MARLENE: GERT: ANN: Oh, excuse me, miss. Well, Joyce Verani, how are you? Hello girls, this certainly is a small world. Gertie, what are you thinking about? I was trying to recall our Freshnsan Cheerleaders. Oh, you mean Kathy Marieb, Cathie Hauser, Sandy Ar- nold, Renee Benjamin, Barbara Hayes, and Susan Aldrich. DIANE: BARB: Didn't we go to Babb's for our class picnic? That was quite a year. It took us all that time to become acquainted with the school. FRANNIE: Our Sophomore officers were Tom Buoniconti, Florence Davio, Timmy Letendre, and Judy Peterson. Our big event that year was Oriental Gardens. JOYCE G: At least everybody danced instead of sitting around, and the entertainment was wonderful. MADELINE: Especially Tony Klenakis when he sang, “Since I Met You Baby,” and Sally Figiel singing, “Rock and Roll Waltz.” MARLENE: Pete Schindler and Elaine DeMont, who were chosen as chairman and co-chairman, must have had plenty of headaches. ANN: Miss Durkan had plenty of headaches also. She had the privilege of being our class adviser. J- v. Tom Buoniconti was re-elected again in our Junior year. Flo Davio, Jean Kasper, and Timmy Letendre were the other officers. GERT: We had a fabulous Junior Cabaret. Everyone put many hard hours into that dance, and it was really worth it. DIANE: Wasn't the Cabaret entitled “Fantasy in Blue” and wasn't Betty Morassi chosen as general chairman? BARB. Yes. Remember the Will? It surely put us Juniors in our places. FRANNIE: We wanted to give the Class of 1960 a Will, but it was becoming a slander column, so we were the last class to receive the Will 36 JOYCE G: MADELINE: MARLENE: ANN: J- V.: GERT: DIANE: BARB: FRANNIE: JOYCE G.: MADELINE: MARLENE: ANN: J- v. GERT: DIANE: BARB: FRANNIE: JOYCE G.: MADELINE: Remember April 21? We had a class party in the form of a record hop. It was called “Eleventh Heaven May 23 was another memorable night; it was the night of our Prom, “L’Isle D’Amour.” It was under the direction of Elaine DcMont, and she certainly worked real hard to make that dance a success. Our mountainous scenery created a realistic atmosphere. I’m sure that night will remain in everyone’s heart forever. Members of the class served as ushers that night, and Jean Kasper and Allan Mackintosh were chosen as Junior Marshals. Then, at long last, our Senior Year finally arrived. We had the same class officers. Pete Schindler was elected president of the Student Council, and Elaine DeMont was editor of the Mirror. The Student Council, under the advisement of Mr. Car- bone, did a very efficient job. Our football team did an outstanding job that year. If we hadn’t lost to Westside, we would have won the Western Mass. A. A. football championship, two years in a row. Ed Modzelewski and Pete Schindler gave outstanding per- formances. Other top performing members that year were Tony Klen- akis, Chubby McCarthy, Roy Mackintosh, Frank Kingsly, Ray Ferr err o and Tony DeCola. Our cheerleaders did a fine job also. Let’s not forget the band and colorguard. Madeline, you and Frannie were members, weren’t you? Mr. Davis cer- tainly has done a remarkable job with our band. We certainly were quite busy in our Senior Year. After a lot of quarreling and trouble, we finally chose the Ivy League hats as our class hats. We selected royal blue and silver as our class colors. Our Kid Party certainly brightened up our Christmas spirit. Remember how hard everyone worked to put the yearbook together! Miss Phelps was going crazy trying to get the pictures to- gether. Everyone kept going back for retakes. Mr. Wright worked hard also. Everyone worked very hard to make our Senior play a success. The title of it was Washington Slept Here.” Walter McCarthy and Elaine DeMont played the leads. Thanks to Mr. Diver, the play was a great success. Everybody had a really wonderful time at the class ban- quet. It was fun hearing the gifts being read, and seeing each individual go up to receive his gift. That’s when we realized how quickly our happy school years were coming to a close. Our caps and gowns were blue and white. Everyone had a hard time keeping back the tears at graduation. It’s getting late; I think we’d better get started. It’s really been fun reminiscing about the good old days at A. H. S. I’m sure no one will ever forget our school days; they cer- tainly were wonderful. And one of the best places I know to con- tact is the Telephone Company. Several of us from my graduating class are working here — and every one of us loves it.” Telephone jobs are important ones. We have our own training pro- gram which you can enter without any previous job experience. The pay is good, and you’ll get regular raises. Why not come and see our employ- ment interviewer soon . . . before you graduate. Ask the Guidance Counselor at your school to tell you when and where to apply.
