Sands, 'Preasurei DO YOU REMEMBER? Fres h m an Year That first day we entered senior high — our chests puffed out — our noses high, but soon lowered by the sophisticated seniors. Our first class meeting when we elected Ronnie Heyvvood as president. Mary McQuesten as vice-president, Betty Magicra, secretary, and Tom Rice, Treasurer. The Frosh Party — we didn’t have. The huge Freshman class that dwindled by the end of the year. Sophomore Year The first meeting with our new adviser, Miss Bcnotti. The unchanged slate of class officers. Our first social, Fall Frolic. Pixie decorations. The smooth class banners with our class colors, maroon and white. The social committee’s high hopes. Skating Party Hay ride Class paper The record we broke by having two sophomore parties, the second being in March. Didn’t the curtain look pretty with all those spring flowers? Junior Year We made two changes in our class officers. Bill Harrigan, treasurer; Amy Lango, vice-president. Do you EVER remember having $178 in our treasury! The grand time everyone had at the Mardi Gras, which was a big success. May 19th — the junior prom with Dave Cornfoot as general chairman. Your date—that superb orchestra of Ray Sparrow — the fun we had painting the trellises. The last class meeting of the junior year when we all gathered to say goodby to our adviser, Miss Bcnotti, and to greet our new class adviser. Mrs. Hadley. Do you remember the fine young classmen that left for the service the end of this year. Se n i o r Ye a r Here we are at last, seniors. Our class officers—Ronnie Heywood, president; Amy Lango. vice-president; Betty Magiera, secretary and Dave Cornfoot. treasurer. How we became ten years younger at the Kid Party. Mary McQuesten was selected as the sweetest girl and Franny Ehrhardt as the cutest boy. Weren’t those sleepers of El lie’s funny? Where did Bill Hoisington get those shorts ? How our thoughts turned hopefully toward June and graduating. Getting measured by Gabby for caps and gowns. That important appointment at Bosworth’s. Friday, April 13th our class play, Sneak Date, and the “house was full.” “In ourselves our future lies.” How surprised we were to hear our prophecy at the Class Banquet. The amusement over our class gifts. The will we left to the juniors. The night we received our well-earned diploma. He is on his way to Mongolia to establish a Hynes Soup Company. 57 Varieties (Special Rates to Chinamen!). Dave, not having seen Roge in fifteen years, immediately pursues him and overtakes him. Incidentally, Dave is on his way back from Arabia where he was collecting a Harem. Roge looks in his rear vision mirror, see’s Dave approaching, and pulls over to the curb. Dave parks on top of Roger’s helicopter, and climbs in where the following conversation takes place: Roge: Hi, Dave! Dave: What do you say. Roge? Roge: Just went to a football game yesterday. Xapolitan and Casiello starred for the Agawam Redskins. They played the Chicago Bears, and beat them 50-6. Carlo Lavotti is Captain of the Chicago Bears. The game was played in the Agawam Stadium which was recently given to the town by the Meat Market Magnet. Edward ■ Gallerani. The game was announced over all hook-ups by John Keane. There was marvelous cheering led by Dolly DiLullo and Rose DiLiddo. Doug Trcvallion’s Band was put through its paces by majorette Beverly Longey. Incidentally, the game was broadcast through the courtesy of the Ehrhardt Thin Blue Blade Company. Ehrhardt states: “The blades will not rust between shaves for as long a period of a year.” Dave: It must have been a beautiful ball game. I’ve been corresponding with Larry Tctrcault who wrote and told me he had inherited a home in West Suffield. Say, Roge, what’s that down the road a way? Those two men working on that heli- copter look familiar. Roge: That’s Heywood and Holmes Airway Station. They do their best work on overhauling the helicopters built by Kwiatkowski and Company. Dave: Does Bruno Maulc still have his modeling school, with Lillian Itzkowitz as his No. 1 Pin Up Girl? Roge: Yes, he does. Frank Jones has a dental laboratory. He acquires all his plastics from Stepanik's Plastic Company In. Dentist Jarl Johnson gives all his business to Frank. Mary McQucsten is Jarl’s efficient nurse. Dave: Say, wasn’t that Rita Gallagher I heard as head tobacco auctioneer on the Miget and Lyers Program owned by Ding Ding Letendre? Roge: That was she, all right, and their slogan is “They Mortify.” Billy Hoisington comes on right after her, telling bedtime stories to the kiddies. Dave: I’ve been away a long time, Roge. What happened to some of the other girls in our class? Roge: Well. Meredythe Barker owns the Massachusetts Book Bindery Com- pany. They just published Eleanorc Ezekiel’s book “Familiar Poems and Essays.” Dave: I read about Betty Magiera’s and Amy Lango’s invention — a successful way to pick up mercury with tweezers. I also read that Audrey Willard has taken Miss Bclyea’s place at Agawam High as Head of the Commercial Department. Roge: Dolores Borgatti and William Berard have a school teaching the mice to be quiet. Mary Hanrahan is principal, and Vally Buiso is superintendent. Fern is descending the steps of the Agawam Library when she meets Ginny Clarke. Incidentally Beulah Campbell is the librarian. Ginny: Hi. Fern, what are you doing these days? Fern: I’m on my vacation now, but I’ve been Van Johnson’s private secretary for two years. What have you been doing, “Gin”? Ginny: I’m Treasurer of the Turner Brother’s Hat Shop. Have you heard about Eleanore Cirillo? She has part ownership in McLellan’s. Mary-Jane Earle has become a very prosperous dressmaker. Fern: Yes, I know, I bought one of her lovely dresses last week. Have you tried any of June Schwartz’s recipes for double decker pies, which call for whole yokes? You can acquire these whole yokes by using Vera MacCave’s egg beater which beats the eggs without breaking the yokes. Ginny: I saw Thelma Raison’s advertisement for seedless, tasteless, colorless raisins. It sounds almost impossible but anything can happen in this day and age. I hear Blanche McPhail serves very excellent meals at her restaurant on Ouija Street. She also has a wonderful entertainment program. Clayton Fuller is the star of the evening, crowds being mad about his arrangement of Home On The Range.” Fern: Doris Govoni is Editor-in-chief of the newly published magazine “17J 2.” Hambone’’ Hamilton thinks up all the cartoons and jokes for her magazine. Nancy Martin is the Advertising Manager for this best seller. They have their classes at the Lakesurface Park. Fern: I hear Tom Rice is still trying to figure out which came first the chicken or the egg. He thinks the chicken, but Venetia Penna, who is also conducting research on the question, says the egg. Ginny: I just finished reading Alice Whitehead’s interesting novel, “Facts About Our Navy.’’ Norma Montagna and Shirley Rivard have opened a Tea Shoppec on Fortune Tellers Lane. Anita Lucia reads your tea leaves for only twenty-five cents! Fern: I must drop in some time. Julia Woishnis and Jean Waniewski have positions as court reporters. They can actually take shorthand at 200 words a minute. I went to Connie Pariseau’s wedding yesterday. She made a lovely bride. Ginny: Yes, I read about it in the paper.
