With the fall comes turning leaves Cooler weather and the start of school. Football returns for another season. Games are lost, games are won. For our enduring students springs Our first cross-country team. Early October brings to mind With excitement of all kind Homecoming... Days to remembers. Winter .approaches with Northern winds. Try to keep warm inside and out. Some of the students put on plays A pleasant change on cold days; Winter sports come round the corner, Basketball and wrestling: winter attractions. Valentine's Day comes in February With its dance, it's not an ordinary Day and never will be. Slowly but surely spring makes its way. We might not notice it till that one day Or two when it hits us finally In the form of an event. All our work and skill and pleasure Brought together for two nights Prom... Baseball and track come In the line of spring sport. We sec our time is growing short. It is all over for our friends in Twelfth Grade, As they line up to receive their diplomas. They all look so, so sad. Maybe they thought it wasn't so bad. All these things plus many more I'll remember as I walk out the door Till next year... By Bev Spieker 4 Summer is...the sun. Summer is...a fussy friend. Impressions of Summer The final bell rings at the scheduled time. Three more months till the next chime, And before you lay many plans. Dates vacations, even wedding bands. Hay to be bailed, weeds to pull Days on the farm are always full. Summer sports are always fun Or if you perfer, lay in the sun. Places to go, people to meet, Great opportunity to eat and eat Watch the fourth come and go. Half the summer left before you know. Marching to win in parades Or watch Mom make marmalades. Jobs to be done, kids to sit Watch the world through a catcher's mitt. Whatever you want, get it done, It'll be too late when school'll begun. By Bev Spieker Summer is...a lake of grain. 5 JUNE “ Bo 4C. ro hob's 3 i rthcJcty 3 - AA C I irin Bern tnq 3 ■ J o y c.c. Up up with people. Hi, I use Ultra-Brite. Aren't you glad you use dial? 17 Light my fire Triumphant grand march Homecoming 73 The excitement of Homecoming week touches nearly everyone in Adrian High School. Each class must do its part in the celebration. Skits and posters are created by the mem- bers of grades 7-12. Dates for the dance and game were made—some far in advance and others only hours before the festivities begin. Little attention was paid to what the teach- ers discussed in class. Test grades were often not as high as they would have been a week earlier or a week later. Planning which began weeks before, became hectic. There never seemed to be enough time to get everything done. Yet everything was finished on time. Elections for King and Queen were held. Homecoming royalty candidates were chosen from the sen- ior class. Candidates for Homecoming were Rose Wolf, Pat Schutz, JoAnn Heitkamp, Deb Lynn, and Nadine Schissel. Candidates for Homecoming King were Stan Wieneke, Jeff Brake, Wes Henricksen, Jim Eickhoff, and Doug Loosbrock. Close to You Light My Fire! Sure wish we could go! 18 Hey! I did it! Musical Chairs Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights the Soph- omores decorated the gym for coronation and the dance. Blue and gold streamers covered the ceiling in one foot intervals and draped to the floor. A tree and patio chairs graced the southeast corner of the gym. Thursday night Corona- tion was followed by. . . Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! Tears of Happiness . . .skits, entertainment, a pep fest, the burning of H-BC , and a snake dance. Wes Henriksen was crowned King by last year's King Dave Lutmer. JoAnn. . . I'm not scared. Anticipation . . .Heitkamp was crowned Queen by last year's Queen Mary Wolf. King Wes and Queen JoAnn reigned over the festivities on Thursday and Friday. Friday night's football game was with Hills-Beaver Creek. We lost 0- 21. Hopes had been high for a vic- tory, but the loss didn't seem to lower the festive spirit. Homecoming was exciting. And Away We Go! Tea for Two 19 Jumping jacks, ready go. I think I'd better go outside And for the next number. . . Oh, cute! Don't be scared son Raving Beauties Bottoms up Who, me? Mr. Konkel and the Pussy Cats 20 Mmmm?!! It's Party Time! What a Hare! Senior Poster Mom never told me about pampers! Sophomore Poster The good fairy did it again! 21 The Wild Bunch Whose Angels? I And away we go! Ah, Come on Wish they would let me in on it. It's not as heavy as it looks! n What's down there? Can I have a drink? Hey, you guys, the field's this way. Ready, get set, . . .Go! Hey, Susie, do you got an itch? 22 Oh my aching head. NAME POS. May 30, 1974 Dear Mom and Dad, Tonight I graduate from high school. You have encouraged me when the going got rough. You were understanding when I got a low grade in a class I found difficult. You were thrilled when I got that good grade in another class. You did my chores at liome when I had to go back to school early for a game, a meeting, or a special activity. You understood when I was crabby after being out too late the night before. You paid tiuition and taxes so I could go to school, But most of all you gave me love. Now I am saying thank you for everything by giving you this corsage and boutonniere for you to wear graduation night. I am proud and thankful that you are my parents.
