Wm. i E 2 E The dedication exercises for the Adrian Union High School were held Thursday evening, September 14, 1939 at the new Adrian High School huilding. The program was opened with 'The Star Spangled Banner played by the Vale Union High School band, directed by Richard U. Adams. The invocation was given by Rev. E. H. Tetwiler. More selections by the Vair band preceded the introluctirrn of the Union High School Board of Di- rectors by D. W. Patch, principal of Adrian High School, J. E. Holly. clerk of the board, told of the many obstacles that had to be overcome before the present building could be constructed. Mr. Holly gave a brief and interesting history of Adrian Unirn High School District. A vocal selection, God Bless America was given by Doris and Louise Klingback, and Frank and Robert Tosch accompanied at the piano by Margaret Kling- back. After this most appropriate selection, the main address was present- ed by Reverend James Millar, professor of religious education at the College of Idaho. Dr. Millar reminded the people how precious is their heritage of democracy in this country, and urged them to do their part in maintaining and advancing it. The Vale band concluded the entertain- ment for the evening with two march numbers. After the program, students of the high school guided groups of people about the building explaining the physical features of the rooms and equipment. Visitors were taken to the typing room where the fifteen new typewriters were displayed and to the music room where a large assortment of band instruments were demonstrated. The equipment for the girls' physical education was shown in the outer office, and the library with all its new books drew much attention. Probably the most popular display was found in the home economics room where the new stoves. sinks, shelves and all the new equipment and utensils were shown and demonstrated. The modern equipped science room, the stage, beautifully decorated with baskets of flowers furnished by the community P. T. A.'s3 the girls' and boys' dressing rooms, and the heating plant were each in- spected and admired. During the informal inspection, the staff of new teachers visited with parents and school patrons.
