'A Q, Superintendent's Message We of the faculty are all happy that you have been able to come to school, for in America education is for all It 15 a demand of democracy that school be for everyone, knowlng no religious, political racial lines It is through the schools that each child realizes the opportunities for successful achievement open to every person in the democracy You normally and naturally seek the good and try to succeed We are here to help you do just that That you may achieve most you must avoid one very serious pltfall, that is the habit of allowing your thinklng to be done for you Yes, it's easy to get our thlnklng done for us, and the temptation is not to thlnk We glance at the news headlines, llsten to talk and flatter ourselves that we are informed W are always tempted to fall 1nto such a rut, and there is no better road to failure If you do nothing else, make your declsion and then determine to know at least one thlng better than anyone else knows it Thls wlll force you to thlnk, and it will brlng you satlsfactlon and success The very foundation of our democracy 1S a thinklng populace I hope that you will be a strong plllar in that foundation It has been a pleasure to know and work with you Edwin L.
