GLANCE AT T BREWSTER FARRAGUT The 55 football team made 1ts debut here on September 30th when Brewster upset Farragut 6 0 A penalty and a fumble proved costly as Brewster made the flrst and only touchdown The Bluejackets ould not get started Thorne and Peter Rabblt Mlller trled a SGFICS of plays and flnally cllcked on an opt1on play whxch went for 17 yds Th1s was about the blggest gam Farragut made Throughout the afternoon both teams held each other w1th1n the 20 yd lme Farragut fought lts hardest untll the flnal second ticked away The cadet corps constantly gave support from the grandstands BRANDON FARRAGUT On Fr1day n1ght 7th October the BlueJackets were topped by a powerful Brandon eleven 33 6 In the flrst play of the game Brandon scored on an 80 yd pass play and later on several runnlng plays Brandon had plenty of speed to spare Whlle we lacked lt Our rally came 1n the th1rd quarter on a downf1eld march The score was made when Peter Rabb1t Miller went over from the two yd me Farraguts casualty 11st plled up when Frank Bllley was pulled out of the game wlth a crushed hand caused by a lme pxle up Hayes was pulled out several t1mes Wlth stomach trouble and Bruce Jones defenslwe half back recelved a double frac ture ln his left arm whlle maklng a tackle TARPON SPRINGS FARRAGUT The Bluejackcts played host to a hlghly rated Tarpon Sprmgs on October 14th and lost 26 0 The flrst touchdovxn was made on the return kickoff Wh1Ch started the game Later they con nected on a long pass and fmally on a run whxch was held back and broken up sex eral t1mes by two outstandmg backs Johnson O and Thorne The Spongers were expected to beat us by 8 touch downs however Johnson and Thorne saw that thlS dldn t happen Another outstandlng asset that helped Farragut was her strong lme wh1ch held constantly under Tarpon pressure WIMAUMA FARRAGUT On Fr1day n1ght October 21 the Wlmauma W1ld cats handed the Farragut Bluejackets their fourth loss of the season by defeatmg Farragut 27 0 Wzmauma connected on a ser1es of long passes and scored Agam Farragut lacked speed and was on the defenslve most of the txme Johnson O and Thorne stopped many plays and Drew Moore batted down some touchdown tabbed passes Altogether the team played a great game GULF HI FARRAGUT On Frldav n1ght October 28 Admiral Farragut sank Gulf Hlgh 12 6 for thCll flrst victory of the season HE GAMES Thls excxtmg game was played away and the cadet corps attended Doug Davles was a constant runn1ng threat When the tlme ran out Danes had Just flmshed a run that put us Wlthln two yds of a touchdown Drew Moore grabbed a couple of Leon ard Thorne s passes and Thorne pulled xn the touch down pass that put us out in front 6 0 In the th1rd quarter Gulf scored on a screen pass and t1ed lt up 6 6 Agam Thorne scored for the Jackets and the score was 12 6 Both teams fought hard through the rest of the game and Farragut brought back a wmner 12 6 LARGO FARRAGUT On Nox ember 11 Adm1ral Farragut played agalnst a toughened Largo losmg 52 6 The defeat was already announced by the papers The St Petersburg Tlmes game them a fme touch down advantage Johnson and Powell were stand outs ln the backfxeld Makmg several tackles was Johnson and Powell had a few good runs Thelr l1ne heavlly outwelghed ours and pushed us back several t1mes They began to score early 1n the game and wlth thelr 1ast1ng speed contmued to score and walk away wlth a 52 7 uctory TURKEY CREEK FARRAGUT On November 4 the Bluejackets took on Turkey Creek the Tampa Bay Conference champxons and were defeated 49 0 The powerful Gobblers were no match for the Jackets Farragut hampered by mJur1es and losmg several f1rst strmg men because of bad conduct consldered cancelmg the rest of the seasons games however the team sa1d no and began to mcrease 1n slze The showmg they made that nxght was excellent The fact that we lacked speed and experlence kept us from scormg but not from try1ng our best PINECREST FARRAGUT On Fr1day afternoon Nox ember 18 Farragut was host to Pmecrest last years champxons who were seekmg thelr f1rst wln and found It 24 6 Ot1s Johnson and JIMBO Powell were the standouts 1n the backfleld The lme was excellent on offenswe and went through the1r l1ne llke water through a sleve on defenslve Thelr team had the speed and used It to thelr advantage makmg several long runs and f1rst down runs Jlm Powell made a 55 yd run only to be called back on a Cllpplng penalty Powell went across later for the score Both teams played hard untll the txme ran out and Farragut lost another 24 6 ST PAULS FARRAGUT For the flrst txme smce Farragut football started we lost our homecommg game 44 0 We played our cross clty r1va1s St Pauls Our season whlch was shattered by casualtles dldnt help us any We were Iacklng speed and experlence whlle thelr all con ference backs seemed to pour lt on We played our best but It wasnt enough so the Bluejackets lost a heart breaker 44 0 , . . . . , ' . . , . ,, n -
