They sang Old English Carols and entertained parents, students ond facul- ty. An Old English Dinner with roast beef, flaming pudding and wosail was served to ninety people. 19 )arkof themoondarkof themoondarkof themoondarkof themoon dark Dark of the Moon , this years fall play, aroused everyones curiouslty to come and see the show. The cast of vet- erans and many newcomers did a won- derful job with the unusual show of witchcraft and mountain folks. Performed November 6,7, and 8. the audience could clearly see the many hours of work involved in the stylistic set, authentic costumes, and superb perfor- mances. The Holiday Music Festival, given De- cember 11 and 13, wos on outstanding performance by the Jazz Ensemble, the orchestra, the Symphonic Band, and the choruses. Many of the numbers featured combinations of these groups performing holiday pieces together. The Jazz Ensem- ble received a standing ovation for their excellent performance. 22 I HolidQymusicfestivQlholidQymusicfestivQlholidQymusicfestivQlholidQ 23 Aarchingillinimarchingillinimarchingillini marchingillinimarchingillinimc The Marching Illini arrived here on Sun- day September 20, 1961 after performing during the Chicago Dears football game. Three hundred and nineteen members of the band marched and almost twenty eight hundred spectators welcomed them. At rhe annual pep rally held Friday night, Janet Stallman and Phil Sepulvedo were crowned queen and king. The spirit lingered on for the gome when the Pats suffered an upsetting loss to Warren. During 4 halftime, it was announced that the Class of ‘62 captured first place in the float contest for the second year in a row. An open house was held for alumni and parents immediately following the football game. The dance surpassed all others with approximately 400 people attending and enjoying the music of Ex- cel'. ■ ■ I Homecoming'81 homecoming'81 homecoming'81 homecoming' Homecoming 1981 brought much excitement to Stevenson High School. Costume Day, which followed the theme of Halloween, and T- shirt Day were two days of the week when students had a chance to dress up. On Trick or Treat Day teachers had to present a trick or a treot to their classes. Many new activities were added to Homecoming week this year. Field Doy. which took place after the parade, hod classes competing against eoch other. The four-legged race and the tricycle roce were among the events. To add spirit to rhe week, junior and senior girls whitewashed the parking lot. Stardust, was held February 19 0 20. The zany comedy involved a New York City actress, a Rus- sian drama teacher, and a Wall Street businessman. The excellent performance given by the cast and crew was appreci- ated by the audience. The play was truly a group effort. Stardust was under the direction of Ms. Courtenay O'Connell. She was aided by Technical Director Ms. Marie Deaupre. Student Director Rich Singletary, and Stu- dent Technical Director Jock Dowser. One was during Homecoming Week on dress-up day while the other was on Halloween. Few dressed up on Halloween since most people wore their costumes for dress-up doy . Students and teachers filled up the bleachers to encourage and cheer on the girls and boys athletic teams. While the Patriettes and the Band enter- tained, the Cheerleaders led the crowd in songs and chants. 29 November 7 was the date of the annu- al ISP Pancake Breakfast. Exchange stu- dents and their American families, as well as the public, helped make this year's breakfast a success. A total of 200 people attended, and a total of 1,000 pancakes were eaten.
