ISP also brought Tarja Schrey. a student from Finland, to spend her year In the United States at Stevenson with the Paris family. The money that they have raised went to improvements for the nursery school and needy children and families. After members have finished playing, sauna's, whirlpools, and the swimming pool can be used to soothe all aching muscles and bones. Even though the game is for fun, com- petition is always there. There are ten teams and three people on each team. The teams com- pete against each other, playing three games. At the end of the three games, the team with the most points wins. Kolesar 42 SHOOTING CLUBS 43 SKI CLUB This year’s Ski Club had another suc- cessful season. The club traveled to ski resorts ranging from Wilmot and Alpine to Majestic, Devils Head, and Chestnut Mountain. A final trip to Winter Park, Colorado took place from March 27- April 5. Only 26 people were chosen to go with 6 alternates on a waiting list. OUTDOORS CLUB The brave people who joined the Out- doors Club learned the fundamentals of survival in the wilderness. Such things as cliff climbing, setting up tents, hiking, and sitting around the camp fire telling stories were enjoyed by all. Fred has played varsity soccer for four years and broke the Illinois scoring record for the most goals scored in a career. Marianne is very active in Stevenson’s government and won the local Century II Leader’s Scholarship Competition. Scoring in the top 7% of about 70,000 black students who took the PSAT test, Dave plans on going into engineering or medicine. WILD WEST The western theme led Stevensons first homecoming parade with the “Green and Gold Rush of '82” winning the float con test. The close, yet disappointing, loss to Antioch did not damper the spirits of the 150 couples attending the annual dance. 119 -The Importance Of This years fall play. The Importance of Be- ing Earnest, was performed November 7 and 8. Although the cast was relatively small, the show proved to be a success. The cast mem- bers were as follows: Tom Baasch. This added to the success of the First Annual Holiday Music Festival 123 124 Halloween brought much excitement to Stevenson. Many students, as well as teachers, got Into the action and dressed up. Again, dressing up on Halloween is be- coming a Stevenson tradition. Halloween- •ELIZABETHAN DINNER The 1980 Madrigal Dinner was a huge success. Mr. Green stated “Be- ing my first year at Stevenson, the prepartlon of a Madrigal Dinner was a new experience for me. I was al- ways able to count on 100% effort from the group. I look forward to continue the traditional dinner of the Madrigal’s. 126 This year the Outreach Club spon- sored a Blood Drive here at Steven- son, held on Nov. 29th. With the help of the American Red Cross and sev- eral Outreach Club members, they accumulated 67 pints of blood.
