I he decision to return to co education as the permanent pattern of Adelphi was the most significant decision made by Students. Faculty and I ruslees of the C College in many years. I his period of rapid expansion and major adjustment bears testimony to the resourcefulness of the Administration, the coopera five ness ol the Faculty and the flexibility of the students. After lour years the important issues have been settled, the I acuity strengthened and the extra cur- ricular activities coordinated. I he establishment ol the Division of Graduate Studies, including the School of Social Work, the Ph.D. Program in Psychology, the Advanced Training of Psychiatric Nurses, and the Five- Year Program lor Teachers constitutes another significant development in the College. We wish to express our personal appreciation and oflicial gratitude to the Class ol 1050 and all the undergraduates who have participated in the growth and development ol Adelphi during the past four years. School of Social Work Ad elphi s Graduate School provides a professional training program for clinical psychology, education, psychiatric nursing, and social work. Plans have been projected for the academic year 50-51 lor training ol Residents in Child Psychology in the college-operated psychiatric treat- ment center for children. A two-year graduate program leading to the Master of Science degree has been established. 1 he curriculum is designed to provide the general basic knowledge and philosophy needed lor practicing in any type of prolessional setting. During the second year the student has the opportunity to concentrate on his field ol major interest, including special- ized field work experience. I berefore. academic con- siderations can often be tin- least of their worries, when engaged in legal fencing with an outraged citizenry, or when, off hand, the budget looks as though it might not balance. At such times the ill-considered actions ol boisterous youth and tin verbal snipings of our loc al champions of justice must be regarded with a certain tooth- gritting restraint.
