religion » Religion at Adelphi is more than an abstract quality to be bandied around in half-baked discussions. Through the efforts of Rabbi Bennett and Reverend Gettemy the Biblical legends come alive—we not only read the Bible, we try to live it! airmail The antiquity and culture of Germany is brought out by our German department with new enthusiasm and respect. Heine and Goethe would have no com- plaints if they could see the able hands in which they have been placed. The students are enabled to see Germany as the source of some of the greatest music, literature, and creative thought which the world has ever known and they become adept at speaking the language of Wagner and Schiller. A great deal of the charm of old Germany has been added to the charm of our ever-growing Adelphi. What is the good? Why does evil exist? What is reality? How can one achieve true beauty? These are the questions that ccn be answered by our one-mon philosophy department—Adelphi’s own an- swer man—Dr. Francis Ballaine. He regularly helps us to decide the answers to the cosmic questions which are a part of life. Abreast of new develop- ments in philosophy and with a wonderful back- ground in the older masters. Adelphi has turned out many promising young thinkers.

 frcack I French to be spoken is the motto here. The fol- lowers of Jean Sablon and Maggie Teyte finally can understand what their idols are singing about. With the trend toward foreign movies, French is definitely a must. Records and books of the greatest masters are brought within the reach of every stu- dent. With Mr. Langellier, our bona fide French- man, and his able assistants, French has taken on a glow for everyone. itMiik South America here we come! The students of Adelphi are falling in with the country-wide enthusi- asm for our Latin American neighbors, and, thanks to Miss Richardson and her department, we are well schooled in the main language of that conti- nent. Not only do we do a wicked rhumba, but also we have at our fingertips a knowledge of the culture and folk lore of South America and Spain. We are now in a position to out-Spanish the Spaniards! Wall Street has nothing on us! Just ask us anything about supply and demand or marginal utility and, thanks to Mr. Pope, we can answer on the spot. There are never any economic problems at Adelphi that are too difficult to be solved. Here eco ‘s taught on an adult level and our graduates can always be confident that their background is per- fect—none of those half-way clerks for us! Thanks to the economics department the scholastic rating of Adelphi has shot way up—and why not? We re theoretic geniuses when we graduate.
