The continuous English Work in the Academy from the Ist to- the 7th Grade inclusive, carries the pupil through a large amount of reading in History, Literature, Geography, and Natural Science. It is expected that the scholar will study grammar in literature, and not literature in grammar. The use of a formal English Grammar, except as a book of reference, is discouraged, and effort is made to teach English by the laboratory method, by reading, repeating, dis- cussing, and if possible, feeling the finest masterpieces of the mother-tongue.
