CLASS HISTORY I he year 1945 is a significant date in our lives, for we as a class entered Adams High School. Successfully passing through the first eight grades, we soon found our- selves awaiting high school with great anticipation. Our freshman class consisted of 29 happy young students. Ann Jones was elected class president; with Benny Snyder as vice president; Joanne Flaherty as secretary and Patricia Trainor as treasurer. Representatives to the student council were Kay LaLone and Charles Brigham. Under the leadership of Coach Pate we had a success- ful food sale. Oui freshman year was brought to a close with a picnic at Westcott’s Beach. Leaving us in that year were Mary Edythe Peyton. Mary Ackley, Joyce Cooley, Sally Bacon, Margaret Watts. Marvin Robarge, Charles Brigham, Larry Parks, Donald Molnar and Karole McGrath. Upon entering our sophomore year, our class had dwindled to 23 students. Ann Jones was again elected president, with Eugene Murray as vice president, Joanne Flaherty as secretary and Benny Snyder as treasurer. Myron Palmer and Patricia Trainor were elected to the student council. Coach Pate was our advisor. We were thrilled to be able at last to order our class rings. Nancy Bovay and Charles McGrath left our class in that year. In our junior year we gladly welcomed into the class Sharon Hines, Shirley Larri- son, Louise Babcock and Tom Williams. Nancy Belloff was elected president; Kay LaLone, vice president: Joanne Flaherty, secretary, and Benny Snyder, treasurer. Myron Palmer and Patricia Trainor again represented the class at student council meetings. Linder the guidance of Miss Reed, our advisor, we had a paper drive, food sale, and a hayride. The entire class worked enthusiastically to publish the newsreel “Odds ’N Ends” which enabled us to win the Jefferson County Journal’s trophy for the best newsreel of the year. Under the direction of Mr. Andrews and Mr. Clancy the juniors presented the comedy “Mama’s Baby Boy” and realized the most profit any class has ever received from a play. With the resources gained from our previous profits, we held our Junior Prom. Aided by the music of Harry Spicer’s orchestra, the prom was another proud event in our class history. Confidently we entered school in the fall of 1957 as proud and privileged seniors. In our final and most important year we lost Eleanor Hines, Anna Scofield, Myron Palmer, Wayne Pooler, Louise Babcock and Charlotte Zehr. Nancy Belloff was elected president; Ann Jones, vice president: Faustina Vrooman, secretary; and Patricia Train- or, treasurer. Benny Snyder and Joanne Flaherty were elected to the student council. Under the direction of Mrs. Howard, our class advisor, we presented our senior play entitled “Which Shall He Marry.” The play proved to be profitable as well as success- ful. This, of course, delighted every senior. Wanting to publish the best yearbook ever, the seniors had a turkey raffle to help increase our treasury. A record hop and the publication of the newsreel were the final projects of our senior year. We. the graduating class of June 1958, will leave our Alma Mater soon, realizing the truth of our motto: “In ourselves our future lies”
