[ 9 ] CLASS WILL We, the Class of 1955 of Adams High School, of the village of Adams, and the county of Jefferson in the state of New York, being of sound mind, body and spirit, do declare but can’t afford to publish our last will and testament. Our worldly possessions are to be distributed thusly: First—We direct that our just debts be paid by the Class of 1956. Second—We bequeath the following assets as herein set forth: We, the Class of 1955, leave to the board of education our deepest gratitude for all the favors they have done us during our years in high school, including our newly finished desk tops. (God help they stay that way.) We, (an unmentionable group) in the Class of 1955, leave to Mr. Scholtz our deepest grati- tude for bearing with us during the chaos of Hallowe’en in 1954. Merv, too. We, the Class of 1955, though unable to do so, would like to give Miss Reed the Congress- ional Medal of Honor for action above and beyond the call of duty in 2' 2 to 3 years of trying to pound history into our unruly and thick-headed class. We, the Class of 1955, leave to Mrs. Howard our deepest gratitude for breaking the monot- ony of English class by reading The Idylls of the King,” which kept us on the edge of our chairs for nearly a month. Nelson Howard leaves his sprinting ability to Jimmy Sinclair. Percy Pratt leaves his great height to Richard Flaherty. Ann Remington leaves her weight to Charles Sweetland. Ralph Cook leaves his broad shoulders and strong back to Ralph Owens. (He sure can use them.) Guff Chalmers leaves his motorcycle to Mr. Gordon. (We’ll bet he’s scared already.) Willaird Blair leaves his badminton ability to Wayne Poller. Clifford Cool leaves his wrestling ability to Camilla Hewitt. Daphna Vrooman leaves her brains to Bernard Larkin. Earl Richardson leaves his class ring to Virginia Cory. Joan LaClair leaves her beauty and charm to Barbara Young. Bill LaComb leaves his basketball ability to Ronnie Trowbridge. Pete Larkin leaves one big kiss to Pat Easton. Carl Patten leaves his engagin’ ” ability to George Wetterhahn. Ken Sloan leaves his fast walk to Charlie Drake. Connie (Ma) Elliott leaves her ability to keep her man to Sandra Smith. Florence Scofield leaves her milking machine to Carol Chalmers. George Grimshaw leaves his Liberrace” hair to Kathy Parker. Doug Draper leaves his string of traps to Wilson Rusho. Vincent Farmer leaves his bowling skill to Doug Murray. Bob Sischo leaves to Mr. Clancy his neatly combed hair and comb. Larry Schelmidine leaves his football ability to Charles Brigham. Edith Prouty leaves her quiet and gentle manner to Millie Sidinore. (Use the well and you just can’t tell.) Shirley Marti leaves her gum wrappers to Mr. Caulkins (as always). Charlotte McGrath leaves her silly grin to Mrs. Montague. Julia Howe leaves Pat Smith her freckles. Fern Preist leaves her fancy Air Force buttons to Lynda Park. We, the Class of 1955, leave our good advisor to the next class (poor things!). In witness whereof, we have hereunto and thereunto subscribed our names and affixed our seal, this Twenty-seventh day of June in the year of Our Lord, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty-five. [ 10 ] CLASS PROPHECY One night while watching television, to our surprise we heard that the merchants of Adams were sponsoring a program relating to the Class of 1955. Here is what we found out about our former classmates. We see that Bill LaComb now has a steady job in Syracuse in a big engineering firm. Bill recently married the former Kay Kehoe of Sandy Creek. Shirley Marti, now living in Alaska with her sister, holds a very responsible job on the Army base there. Shirley, still unmarried, is looking for the right guy. The farmers of Adams all hold a great respect for the leading farmer, Percy Pratt. With the help of his four sons, Percy is running a 500 acre farm. We hear that Ann Remington is sticking to her old job of selling tickets. She now holds the job as chief ticket seller at the new theater in Adams. By a singular coincidence, we see that Charlie Clark is the owner of the theater. That must be Charles' way of keeping his eye on Ann. We hear that Willard Blair has finally settled down in Sackets Harbor. His gas bills must be quite a bit less than they were in his high school days. After his return from the service, Carl Patten married Joanne Peterson. They are residing in a mansion at Henderson Harbor. Although not liking cafeteria work while in school, Charlotte McGrath has now taken the job at Adams High School. Those poor kids! After many months of studying. Clifford Cool now holds top rank in the United States Coast Guard. We imagine this keeps Cliff away from the girls nowadays. Now known as one of the top millionaires is Larry Shehnidine. Larry says he owes it all to hard work trapping in the Lorraine creeks. What’s this we hear about Nina Belloff wearing a new Beaver coat? Also competing in the ranks of millionaires is Ralph Cook. Ralph now owns forty-eight funeral homes, one in each state, so we hear. The former Florence Scofield is now the wife of Bob Mathius, Olympic star. Florence travels to all the Olympic games with her husband. She competes in some of them too. After graduating from college. Sonny Howard bought part interest in the Toleman and Howard Hardware. Sonny also has finally got duals for his Olds. Earl Richardson is now working in the Rochester Chemical Factory. He may turn out to be Einstein, the second, someday. Bob Sischo is now teaching math at the Allendale Country School. He is happilv married and has four kids, who make up half of his large class. Ken Sloan after attending Agricultural School, owns a large farm on the outskirts of Lor- raine. He makes a pretty good farmer, so we hear. Vincent Farmer now owns the Adams Bakery. They sav he is making a lot of dough.” He is married to the former Sonya Nichols and they have three little bakers. Doug Draper is in partnership with Larry Shelmidine, and is also making millions in trapping. He is still going with Ellie Hines. Together thev are planning their future. Edith Prouty now has a responsible job of teaching in New York City. We are sure she makes a good teacher. Joan La Clair is now Chief operator in the Watertown telephone off ice. She regularly at- tends the Rambler dances, and is waiting for the right man to come along. Daphna Vrooman has been promoted to principal at Adams High School. We hear she is having a wonderful time trying to discipline all those dear students. Fern Priest, now Mrs. Carl Trowbridge, is living in Texas where her Air F'orce husband is stationed. I hey have two children anti are delightfully happy in their buzzing life. Mrs. Jack DuColon, formerly Connie Elliott, is making her home in Florida where she and her husband own a chain of hot dog stands. George Grimshaw we hear has a steady job at the Black River Paper Co. He is now en- gaged to Sally and there are plans for a wedding in the near future. Rufus (Guff) Chalmers is now President of the Motorcycle Association in Wisconsin. Guff recently married the former Kay Wright and they do quite a bit of motorcycle traveling. Peter Larkin now owns his own Shell station, but in his off work hours he plays guitar for the North Country Ramblers. Judy Howe is now running a Bee-Hive on the outskirts of Lorraine. People say she has a very buzzing business. f 11 ] CLASS OF ’55 HISTORY In 1943, which seems like an eternity, most of our members entered the walls of A. H. S. We were very enthusiastic to learn what school was like. Our first grade went well with Janet Richmond as our teacher. In the second grade, Daphna Vrooman joined our growing group. While in the third grade a lew of our group left us. Judy Howe joined us in fourth grade, while Charles Clark and Shirley Marti came into our class in the fifth. Vincent Farmer, Percy Pratt, and Earl Richardson came into our class in the sixth grade. Edith Prouty and Florence Scofield came in the seventh year. In eighth grade Bill LaComb and Fern Priest joined us. At last we entered our first year of high school. Joan La Clair and our boys from Lorraine, Kenneth Sloan, Doug Draper, and Larry Shelmidine joined us. We elected Nelson Howard as President, Nancy Farrand, Vice President, Charles Clark, Secretary, and Donald Larkin, T reas- urer. We were under the direction of Miss Akam. We are now no longer referred to as green freshman but full fledged Sophomores. Connie Elliott and Charlotte McGrath became members of our group. We elected Clifford Cool, Pres- ident; Earl Richardson, Vice President; Charles Clark, Secretary; and Donald Larkin, Treas- urer. In our Junior year Tom Hale joined us but left along with Shirley I amblin. Bob Smith, Don Harris, Elmer Corbin. Dick Pitcher and Nancy Farrand. Our class officers were: Bob Sischo, President; Edith Prouty, Vice President; Nancy Farrand, Secretary; and Clifford Cool, Ireasurer. Miss Reed was our advisor. This year was very exciting as we received our long awaited class rings and held our Junior Prom which turned out a great success. We also had a going away party for Nancy Farrand and Tom Hale. We have now entered our last year of high school. I his year we elected as class officers: Nelson Howard, President; Percy Pratt, Vice President; Charles Clark, Secretary; and Ann Rem- ington, Treasurer; with Mrs. Howard as advisor. We had our Senior Play and three dances from which we made a big profit. We were the first class to make such a large profit on a play. We have worked hard on our yearbook and hope that this also will be a big success. Soon we will be closing the doors to our school years. To us school means the best years of our lives in the form of friendships, entertainment and especially education. We shall never forget Adams High School. t 12 ] Name Clifford Cool . . . The Adams High School basketball team has made history this season by winning four trophies for our school. The boys won the Oswego-Jefferson League Champion- ship and then the Oswego-Jefferson Tournament Championship. The feat of winning the league championship and the tournament championship both in the same season is unprecedented in league history. The team then went on to win Class C Area Cham- pionship and also Class C I) Area Championship. Finally, the boys lost in the Syra- cuse area where they played Onondaga Central School. The team has a very enviable over-all record with 19 wins and 3 losses. Hearty congratulations to the team and their coach. Robert Pate.
