1 MISS BEAVERS watches Roger Rupp, Carmi Stef¬ fen, and Brenda Hamrick explain algebra problem to class. Mathematics and Science In mathematics one is always encount¬ ering a new frontier. Central offers stu¬ dents general math, algebra, and plane and solid geometry. Freshmen were required to take one year of math, choosing between general math and algebra. In general business students learned to figure income tax. Algebra students solved equations in which there were two unknown letters. MR. ALLSPAW explains to Rex Roe and Nona Fox their mistake made in General Math. MISS BEAVERS shows Sara Ploughe the answer to her geometry problem. 12

Prepare Pupils for Ever-changing World Freshmen biology classes searched for months to find leaves and insects for their collections. The dissecting of fish and frogs helped them to understand the func¬ tions of the human body. Physics classes furthered their sci¬ entific studies with the application of forces, energy, and changes that take place in matter. They also studied such principles as how much power it would take to raise a given a mount or weight a given distance under a given condition. In chemistry classes, juniors learned the proper procedure for solving chemi¬ cal analysis. After learning many chem¬ ical symbols the students worked scienti¬ fic problems and compared their results with Einstein. LARRY JOHNSON, Steve Hildebrand, and Roger Burkl-iart prepare ingred¬ ients for a Chemistry ex¬ periment. DIANNE MOSER, Roger Currie, and Carol Tonner ask Miss Williamson questions about tlieir bug collections. 13
