ELIZABETH SAPP, John Steffen, and Jim Hill examine the life-like manikin for their biology studies. With the addition of a new course. Central ' s science department was busier than ever. Hie freshman biology classes, under the direction of Mr. Green and Mr. Watson, collected insects and leaves at the beginning of the year. Later on, they studied root growth and root structures, and dissected frogs and crayfish. This year, for the first time, both physics and chemistry were offered. Under Mr. Allspaw, the juniors in the chem class learned many things, the most important of which was the proper procedure for chemical analysis. In the physics class, Mr. Allspaw taught the seniors the resolu¬ tion of forces, stresses and strains, and other items with technical applications. Math and Science Give SAUNDRA MATTAX, Mark Frauhiger, Steve Sch- lickman, and Karen Rich perform the distillation of water. MR. ALLSPAW watches closely as Bill McMillen, Dick Habegger, and Bob Heyerly find the specific gravity of a floating object. 14
