i Firm Foundations for Business Courses Kathleen Adler, Phyllis Biberstein, Linda Reber, and Brenda Sommer do work in filing while Mrs. Arch- bold stands by to check their work. Business education courses include typing, office practice, bookkeeping, and shorthand. These classes open the doors to r any profitable positions in dif¬ ferent lines of work. Teaching these courses are Mr. Miller, general business; Mrs. Archbold, shorthand, bookkeeping, and office practice; Mr. Fruth, typing; and Mr, Frantz, bookkeeping. Mr. Fruth shows Larry Habegger the correct form for typing a manuscript. Mrs. Archbold explains to John Sommer, Carol McKean, and Den¬ nis Fuelling the correct procedure for completing the general journal. 11 A

Mrs. Stucky, Reggie Welch, Duane Arnold, and Rosalyn Mishler watch as Carmen Quinones translates English words to Latin. Latin and English Provide Many Centralites enrolled in English and Latin this year. Latin students, under the instruction of Mrs. Stucky, enjoyed many interesting discussions. Translating held new interests for each mem¬ ber of the class. Mr. Sprunger ' s English Class studied ex¬ pression through writing, sentence structure, and vocabulary. Mr. Sprunger, Mr. Shoup, and Miss Beavers taught English 9, 10, and 11 respectively. Mr, Sprunger shows Jerry Gerber the correct way to spell a word. Marvin Mann asks Mr. Sprunger a question about verb usage. Susan Helmrich, Judy Bercot, and Dennis Arnold profit from his answer. 10

Bill Kohli, David Hamilton, Mervin Parrish, and Jerry Rowden do mechanical drawing in Mr. Collier ' s freshman shop class. Vocational Courses Learning by doing makes voca¬ tional classes some of the more in¬ teresting subjects. Homemaking is interesting and rewarding as we learn better ways to sew, cook, arrange homes, and care for children. The enthusiasm displayed in agri¬ cultural classes shows us How to keep them down on the farm by the study of soil and crop and livestock man¬ agement. Farm shop adds a knowledge of how to use spare time on the farm. Rosanne Lautzenheiser, Susan Frank, and Becky Collins prepare the in¬ gredients for a cobbler while Mrs. Neilsen helps Jane Jennings with the filling in the eighth grade home ec. class. Mr. Watso n, agriculture instmctor, gives pointers to Gary Workinger, Ronnie Schwartz, John Ross, and Forest Strickler on swine judging. 12
