A Day in the Life of a Freshman Oh, the terror of the first day of high school! The astonishment of such a huge building, the fear in seeing so many unfa- miliar faces, the embarrassment when the homeroom teacher pronounces your name wrong — all these feelings tear you apart. It takes so long to learn where all your classrooms are, and you can get lost so easily. The know-it-all upperclassmen laugh at you and call you green. Worry is all you do. At lunch you won- der if you'll ever get your meal. At the end of the day you worry that the bus will leave without you. After a month or so, however, you become skilled at high school life. You can get to class before the tardy bell rings, and you've met a few people, too. High school life gets easier, and the upperclassmen don't treat you quite so harshly. Before you know it, the year is over. You've finally made it through the year, and though you were once so scared and worried, you realize that the year wasn't so bad after all. There were good times mixed in, and friends and memories were made to last the rest of your life.
