A S 8 R 0 P H B May 25, 1978 Dear Mrs Johnson As you well remember, I was very lnterested 1n all students espec1ally 1n 1958 Th1s be1ng so, I decided to 1nvestigate two year namelv the class of l958 and the class of 1959 These two of Ada High classes this classes, as I recall, had the prospects of doing great things 1n the future I Jumped 1nto my new 'EdselW and hot rodded down the road low n gas, I stopped at the next Co o stati0n There mUCht0 my Findin myself surpr se, I found Jerry Mullen f1ll1ng up as usua He informed me that after much debate he flnally become hltched to Kim Novak and had a small family of ten to fillup It belng late, I lnquired about a hotel Jerry lnformed me that I had a choice of one So I burned out of the stat1on and traveled until I came to a large sign readlng No Rest For The Weary Hotel, Wallace Herpich, Proprietor As I approached the desk, I had difficulty 1n finding the desk clerk But, Wally was out at the time pursuing his usual job which of work The next day as I As I slowed to pass, I the herd Not wanting was driving thru the country, I saw Sylvia Van Meter milking an to disturb her work, I drove on Arriv1ng at Hays, 13 working to stay out came upon aherd of cattle old cow in the middle of down the road the decis1on was made to stop at Fort Hays Kansas State College to 1nqu1re about directions Imagine my surprise when I found LaDonna Peterson still trying to get her degree from the college She seemed quite happy with a new job that she had The job consisted of directing a men's glee club At the edge of town, while waiting for a freight train to pass, I saw Ken Becker, a hobo, hop off LaDonna had told me he was arriving in style Farming was Ken's hobby now, where as his regular job was hopping freights I gave him a r1de 1nto Salina As we entered Salina, we discovered a sign with the words Roger Chrisman's Beauty Shop, poodle cuts our that he also gave crew cuts, dlnner As we strolled down the Air Force coming toward us specialty Deciding to walk 1nto see him, we found Mohawks, etc Roger invited Ken and myself out to street, we saw General Earl Montgomery of the U S At f1PSt we thought he was talking to himself, but gettlng closer, it was discovered that he was talking into a walkie talkie Moving on down the street with Earl talking to us, we arrived at the cafe Enter1ng the cafe, we found Coach Maurice Hill, now coaching the Globetrotters, with h1s mouth full After joining him, we ate a T bone steak except Roger who ate a hamburger After promising Roger that he could feed us again sometime, we left the cafe Noticing a huge trailer house approaching, we paused to look at it In front of it was a 1978 souped up Ford with Dorothy Converse at the wheel and Frances Hormel ln the back seat Frances seemed to be talking and pointing a lot Dorothy had a red face, I guess she was sun 'bggned'99 We stopped them to talk a while We learned that they had just completed a trip to all the A8 states They had financed their trip by doing typing and some bookkeeping for a different firm in each state They seemed quite happy that the trip was over, especially since it had started 1n 1958. My investigation being complete, I drove back to Denver to finish my term at Denver Un1versity. By the way, my wife is still slaveing away putting me through school at teaching 1n a Denver High School. Sure was glad to see the members of the two classes doing as we expected. Sincerely Yours, H.
