Co-Valcdictorian Manjula Canagaratna receives a Social Studies award from Miss Sale. Mrs. Knoble awards the outstanding seniors in the vocal music department. r Seniors On May 9, the outstanding seniors of Ada High School were honored in fields ranging from vocal and instrumental music to Mathematics to Vocational Agriculture. Scholarship awards were given to Manjula Canagaratna, Sarbori Bhattacharya, and Mindy Murphy. At the end of the dessert, which was sponsored by the Student Council, the Salutatorian was named as Becky Ramsey and Sarbori Bhattacharya and Manjula Canagaratna were named as Co-Valedictorians. Water, Water Everywhere! The first annual National Honor Society trip took place on May 6 when eighteen students and six chaperones traveled to Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island for a day of sunshine and fun. Students took a tour of the island, including Perry’s Monument, Crystal Cave, and the winery. Several NHS members had never N HS members pose on the dock just before the “Islander shoves off. Resting at the park in the center of town arc Kevin Moser and Angie Newland. traveled to the island and particularly enjoyed the ferry boat ride; the weather was ideal. Chaperones for the trip were advisor Dave Lusk and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Turner, and Mr. and Mrs. Reichcnbach. The day was a definite success and may have begun a new NHS tradition! All Eyes On The Future The eyes of family and friends rested on the graduating class and the eyes of the 1988 graduating class looked to the future as “Pomp and Circumstance resounded through the room. Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 1988 were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5th in the Ada High School gymnasium. Following the Invocation by Rev. William Kessler, the senior clarinet quintetof Monica Chambers. LeAnn Compton, Amy Curtis, Amy Shroycr, and Deb West performed. Other music for the afternoon's celebration included “Another Bridge to Cross by the High School Choir and “Friends , selected and performed by the senior choir members. The Ada High School Band provided the processional and recessional music. Rev. Robert Schreiner from the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church gave the Baccalaureate address for the senior class. 1988 Valedictorian honors were shared by Manjula Canagaratna and Sarbori Bhattacharya. Becky Ramsey pre- sented the Salutatory speech. After certification and introduction of the class by High School principal. Samuel Becklcy, the Class of 1988 was awarded their diplomas. The presentations were made by Ronald Fleming, Board of Education President. The benediction by Rev. James Kerr completed the graduation exercises. As hats flew through the air, seniors filed outside to celebrate with family and friends, and to look once again to the future.
