Mr. Lowell Reese A TRIBUTE Mr. Lowell Reese, math teacher at Ada High School and former coach whose teams set outstanding records down through the years, was awarded the highest honor the village of Ada can bestow when he was named the 14th annual Distinguished Citizen by the Town and Gown Association members in 1970. The choice of Mr. Reese for this high honor was made on the basis as a citizen dedicated to serve youth, as a teacher inspired to great service in the recreation and well-being of the Ada community and an exemplification of loyalty and devotion to his county. Mr. Reese was born at Trumbell and moved to Ada with his family as a young boy. He was graduated from Ada High School in 1931 where he was well-known for his athletic achievements. He received an AB degree from ONU in 1935 and became a teacher and coach. His teaching career was interrupted when he was called into active service with the U.S. Army during World War II in which he was critically wounded. In the beginning of his career, he taught one year at Lyons and one year at Bristolville; at West Unity from 1937-42; At Ada, 1942-43; At Forest, 1947-52; and again at Ada High School from 1952 until his retirement in 1972. He has an outstanding coaching record at Forest, as well as at Ada High School. After ms coaching career, he served as faculty manager. He devoted many hours as a loyal and interested citizen in im proving the park facilities, particularly the athletic facilities. He has been an influence and inspiration to iny young paopla •» a taacher and coach.
