IN APPRECIATION Ask Maxine! This phrase is heard many times a day at Ada High School as Mrs. McBride - or Maxine, as she is more commonly called - performs her varied duties. She manages the office; keeps financial records of all school activities; types and mimeographs schedules, programs other sundry items; answers queries from faculty, students, parents, and visitors; and serves as secretary to Mr. Lucas, Mr. Younkman, and the Board of Education. However, regardless of circumstances, Maxine never shows exasperation nor gives a sharp retort, but she is always there with a courteous answer and a helping hand. Mrs. McBride is not an all work and no play person. For relaxation she enjoys reading philosophy, bowling, swimming, playing tennis, and listening to her hi-fi records with her husband, Howard. With deep appreciation the annual staff proudly dedicates the 1961 WE to MRS. MAXINE DERINGER McBRIDE Mrs. Maxine McBride

Before entering the field of education, Mr. Lucas spent time in the Navy, where as Lt. (senior grade) Lucas he commanded PC and PCE type vessels. In 1946 he joined the faculty of Wiltshire High School where he taught mathematics and physical education for four years, was principal for three years, and served as executive head for three years. From Wiltshire Mr. Lucas moved to Leipsic as superintendent for four years. In August I960 Mr. and Mrs. Lucas moved to Ada where Mr. Lucas assumed the duties of superintendent of the Ada school system. Mr. Lucas is a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Masonic Lodge, and in his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing, and golfing. We welcome Superintendent Lucas to Ada High School and sincerely hope that his stay will be a long and pleasant one. 4
