A TEACHER IS A PERSON This expression is from a book of the same title by Charles A Wilson, formerly of Ada. Just what is a teacher? A teacher is a person who provides others with knowledge or insight. Most people labor under the misconception that all teachers must be perfect, which would take them out of the human state, since complete perfection is not an attribute of mankind. As a group, teachers are quite like other people. Many are highly competent; some possess average talents, and a few are misfits. If we would study the Ada High School faculty, we would find that our teachers mean more to us than someone who gives us too much homework. We of Ada High School should be grateful that our faculty is one of which we may be proud. They all are highly competent, yet are seldom given any praise for the many things they do for the students. They attend school functions, are always willing to help any student desiring that help, and they go to the P. T. A. meetings with the idea of helping the student body. In fact, they do so many things that we frequently find them busy with these activities, in addition to their school work. Yes, our teachers have given a good account of themselves in the past, and can be expected to make even' greater contributions as the public achieves a better understanding of the critical roles they play in society, for------a teacher is a person.
