They have had a superb deployment in support of Operation Desert Shield!Storm. ACADIA gained the distinction of being the first ship of her class to accomplish the unusual task of cross deck transfers of Tomahawk missiles between vertical launch system equipped combatants. ln early December 1990, ACADIA moved a total of thirty-one missiles between USS FIFE and USS O'BRIEN. ln mid February, 1991, in the midst of Operation Desert Storm, ACADIA's Weapons Division recorded a first by rearming USS LEFTWICH and USS PAUL F. FOSTER with Tomahawks.
