During the past two years the students at the Academy and Spalding have been fortunate in having as their spiritual leader, Bishop William E. Cousins. He has taken a personal interest in our spiritual, intellectual, and social formation. We Catholic teenagers acknowledge our allegiance to our Bishop and our Church and we promise, as adults, to aid the Church, under the guidance of our Bishop, in its Divine mission of bringing Christ into the hearts of everyone. SPALDING FACULTY The shortage of teachers made some changes necessary during the past year. Father Shiels was appointed Superior of the Viatorian Fathers at Alleman High School, Rock Island, Illinois and Father Williams added the duties of Principal at Spalding to those as Superior of the Viatorians in Peoria. The humble and quiet ways of Father Williams have found many friends among the students and others at Spalding. REV. IOHN E. WILLIAMS, C.S.V., Ph.D. Superior.
