The warm welcome of the Faculty and the cheeriness of our big sisters soon dissipated our bewilderment, and we emerged courageously from the haze of Freshman Day, accepted members of the Notre Dame family. As true children We were heard as Well as seen in every corner. VVe enjoyed our part in the operetta, The Uutlaw King. VVe tried valiantly, though unsuccessfully this year, to win the Athletic plaque. But perhaps the dearest memory we shall have of our First year is the friendships we have formed which will endure, we hope, through life. VVe shall miss you, big sisters, next year, but we promise to try to imitate your dignity and your gracious spirit during our years at Notre Dame. wi

Sparkling October days enticed us to the hockey held, where our efforts were rewarded when, defeating the Seniors, we became school champions in held hockey. Again at Christmas we were awarded another prize, for having the most artistically decorated classroom. Midyear exams, however, almost defeated us, but we revived in time to enjoy the Fashion Show and Tea and to prepare for the Musicale. Lent was our hobby seasonn when many fasci- nating booklets recounted not only our skill in cooking and sewing but also our perseverance. Then we turned our literary talent to the preparation of an original skit for our Vocation Month Assembly. Do you remember the gracious smile of Sister Sheila? The final examination schedule now announces the end. VVhile we regret leaving our secondfyear suite, We know that we shall be eager to return in September for our third year in Notre Dame. U21
