The light of the world the fire of youth the flame of truth. Many times, the youth of America hâve been referred to as the light of the world. For this reason, we would like to dedicate this book to Christ, the source of ail light. Through our parents and our teachers He guides us. Christ also cornes directly to us, inspiring in us the fire of youth and the flame of truth. A fire décomposés a substance using those éléments to form a new and more stable compound. The youth of today do this. They take the qualities of their elders and form them into new and better ideals — suited better for a challenging âge. From this fire of youth cornes forth the abounding spirit and energy of the leaders of tomorrow. Burning with great zeal within each of us is the flame of truth. Whether we work, play, or pray, this virtue should manifest itself to others. Truth can never be extinguished and will burn forever in the heart of youth.

OUR TRIBUTE Were you there? It was as if a pall was drawn on our school — that Friday, November 22, 1963. The laughter and exubérant spirit of our voices were hushed; serious and frightened faces spelled con- cern, as the news of the assassination of our president and friend, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, reverberated, like a clap of thunder, in our halls. Automatically nearly 850 girls mode their way to the chapel to find solace and to pray - pray for one who was so vitally interested in us, the youth, and in the temporal welfare of millions of people. Very often an individual ' s contribution to posterity is not realized until after his death. This was especially true of John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Peoples of ail nations — from heads of State to the man-in-the- street grieved the death of the United State ' s Chief Executive, a man recognized around the world as the hope for world peace and for the relief of the oppressed. He was a leader of the free world, full of youth and promise. Even though his rôle was one of action, full of conflict, excitement, pressure, and change, he loved people and was loved because of his love. His youth, his drive, his ideals, his generosity, his hopes and ail that he stood for will always be our memorial of a man who fought a good fight, for he did not shrink from his responsibilities. Just as the eternal flame burns beside his grave, there remains a spark of his spirit in the heart of every American that will never die. His spirit will inspire others to greatness in the search for peace on earth for ail men. The national tragedy lifted the already popular First Lady, Jacqueline Kennedy, to a new stature — Majestic , London said. A popular ambassador of good will wherever she went in the world, Jackie was indeed, an example of a valiant woman, with a courage, a vitality, a self-possession, and a regai dignity —an idéal for ail women. Her dedication as a wife and mother will remain for générations.
