From Our Principal ACADEMY OF NOTRE DAME Any Day, Any Year Dear Students, Praised by Jésus Christ! Each morning a small but very important notice is sent from your homeroom to the principal ' s office. It is called the Attendance Slip.” Much information can be gleaned from these slips, some of which you see lying on the desk before me. For instance, at a glance it is possible to ascertain how many girls are being housed in our buildings for that particular day. A name recurring on the list indicates either serious illness or contrariwise, a desultory interest in scholastic progress. A large number of absentees might evidence severe weather conditions, an épidémie, or possibly a student body badly in need of inspiration and challenge. I like to think that as the years progress, spiritual attendance slips will continue to do just such a job, that were it possible to consult the slip daily the name of each and every girl would appear on the list as evidence of her presence in the vocation or avocation to which God has destined her. I would hope to find her in just that spot, working to capacity, efficiently, lovingly, profitably, whether that task be the rearing of a God-fearing family, the educating of God ' s children as a religious or lay teacher, nursing of His sick, or whatever else it might be. Then, of course, there is the all-important attendance slip, the one on which we ail hope to be listed as prés¬ ent.” I refer to that roster of the names of those who hâve attained life everlasting in the eternal mansions of God ' s glory.
