i .ap O'ZE,U.7O'Z When the final pages of history are written, they will tell a simple story. Great nations . . . after the strife ot ages . . . will look at the skeletons of their lives and will see the essentially quiet pattern of birth and growth and death, for the pattern of mans life is that of nature. lt is the planting and cultivating and harvesting which runs an endless cycle as constant as the tides yet as fleeting as a summer breeze. Hidden in the maze of conquests and coroncitions is our simple story . . . a tiny page in the world encyclopedia . . . yet a faithful recording ofthe song of the harvester. School, wherein we spend our spring-time years, is in- deed the proving ground for life. The seeds of knowledge and truth . . . planted with the greatest care . . . are nourished with the fruits of love and sheltered against the sudden frosts of bitterness and hate, until, at length, the tiny seedling . . . grown tall and strong . . . can stand against the winds and laugh at the lashing of the rain. So that each may become more conscious of her role in the vast garden which is life . . . so that each may see the need to plant and cultivate only the best. . .we have chosen the theme of the harvester for this issue of RES ANNI, May the harvest of each year be plentiful so that the eternal harvest may indeed be a glorious fulfillment.
