Y aff Go forth and teach all nations. This is the edict Christ gave to His apostles, and the CCD at Holy Angels is endeavoring in every tangible way to follow this dictum. ln addition to the regular Methods Course available to all members, this year provision was made for discussion groups for those girls who had already successfully completed this course. Centering around current topics of controversy, some of the subjects treated in the discussion sessions were birth control, capi- tal punishment, and interracial marriage. Explaining how stained glass windows in the students' oratory could be used as a visual aid in teaching, Chris King, Vice- President, chooses the center window to demonstrate her views. Secretary Rose Luvera, President Riki Woods, and Librarian Dominica Luvera consider the possibilities. 0 The CCD was fortunate to have two guest speakers this year. Sister Philip Marie, who presently is teaching at St. Michael's Special School in Palisades Park, addressed the group on the real need for teachers for the mentally retarded. On May 2, Mr. Joseph J. Reilly, a teacher of CCD from the archdiocesan office, shared the riches of his teaching experiences with club members and underscored not only the importance of CCD work today, but also the vital necessity of having well-instructed teachers to carry on this apostolate. As the school year closed, some of the members were charting plans for summer follow-up work with their parish catechetical classes. 4 2

Felicia Marotti, Secretary, f and Peggy Gartland, President, make a last 1 minute check on packing the supplies, Starting its first full year as an SSO club, YCS was divided into two discussion groups which met on Monday and Thursday. YCS-ers used the ob- serve-judge technique at weekly meetings to view problems in an effort to eliminate them. Much em- phasis was placed on starting with problems which are closest to the girls. The main objective was to make immediate surroundings Christ-like. Transforming discussion into action, the mem- bers undertook several Catholic Action projects clur- ing the school year. A clothing drive spurred girls to bring in cartons of wearable clothing for the poorj Later, club members made their first trip to Welfare Island, visiting the sick and bringing them small gifts. First impressions were so strong that the girls returned several times.
